Vincent Kompany is officially leaving Manchester City and he’s doing it with a historic domestic treble to his name. His influence on the team has been nothing short of heroic but his departure is something the club has to somehow deal with right now.
If the reports from The Daily Mail are to be believed, Pep Guardiola has found the perfect replacement for his veteran legend in the form of Leicester’s Harry Maguire, who has been described as the City gaffer’s number one choice of successor.
Maguire has been on the rise ever since Leicester City’s resurgence a couple of years back and the reported interest from Guardiola might not really be that big of a surprise. However, the majority of City’s fans seem to believe he is simply not at the level required to play for the Premier League’s best team.
What’s even more interesting is that they seem to have their preferences when it comes to filling Kompany’s vacant spot and they are certainly not in line with Guardiola’s own ideas.
The masses have seemingly chosen Matthijs de Ligt as their “new Kompany” and have taken to social media to voice their wishes quite loudly. Maguire, for all his quality, doesn’t seem to fit the desired profile…
